Mulla Associates is a partnership firm rendering services to managements of
various industries in the domain of Labour Laws and Industrial Relations, came
into being on 15th December 1981. The firm, started with two partners, namely,
Mr. Saeed Mulla and Mr. Asif Mulla, having their experience in dealing with
different industrial relations, scenarios and counselling on Labour Laws. It
started with associate advocates, namely Mr. S.P. Gaur and Mr. Satish Patkar.
The company’s office in the beginning was located at Arun Chambers, Tardeo,
Mumbai. However it was subsequently shifted to Bandra (w), Mumbai, mainly to afford the proximity of Labour Court and
Industrial Court at Bandra (E). The company expanded its activities and included
services rendered in the domain of the consumer court matters and criminal
prosecution matters related with labour laws. The associates in the company now
includes Mr Saeed Mulla, Mr. Asif Mulla, Partners, Mr. Padmanabh Shetty,
Advocate, Mr. Sunil Surana, Advocate, Mr. S.M. Golamade, Advocate, Mr.
G.M.joshi, Advocate, Mr. G.K.Maurya advocate.
The expertise of the Company lies in the different
Industrial scenario in the Industry. The company always represented the
management of various companies before the court as well as it represented the
cause of the management of the companies with the respective trade union
leaders. The company expertise lies in negotiating periodical wage settlements,
periodical bonus settlement, production norms, studies and norm fixation with
the union and the workman of the respective companies.
The revision of the conditions of the workmen
necessitates the study of pattern in region cum industry and such studies are
being conducted effectively to equip the managements of the company to
understand their strength and success before embarking of negotiations with
the trade unions.
The second area of expertise of the company lies in
successfully
restructuring the Company’s needs which
includes rationalization of manpower by way of voluntary retirements,
retrenchments and re-deployments. On account of globalization in industrial
arena, the rationalization of manpower has gained importance because the
emphasis is on cost effectiveness of the products produced by the companies
which include the labour cost. The knowledge of labour laws and factual position
of the company’s requirements helps in evaluating the requirement of manpower of
the company. The studies of fixation of the manpower is also conducted and if
required negotiations are initiated with the unions and/or representatives of
the workmen to have mutually acceptable separate schemes. The exercise of
re-deployment with the flexibility of the movement of the workmen inter or intra
departments being carried out in order to bring reduction in the cost of
production.
The Company also has expertise in preparation of
applications for closure where more than 100 workmen are employed and where law
necessitates a permission from the government for closure of the manufacturing
activities of a Unit/factory on account of its non viability, lack of orders,
financial difficulties and allied reasons. The company has carried out such
challenging assignments successfully in respect of the organisations like
Hindustan Unilever Ltd. For its Sewri factory, Britannia Industrial for its Reay
Road Unit, IVP Ltd for its Sewri unit and many other industries.
